Balik Kg-Karachi, Pakistan

Assalamualaikum wrt.

Pada 16hb January lepas, we went to Karachi, Pakistan to visit the Karachi's factory as well as to attend the distributorship meeting with the representatives from Suzuki. We took Emirates Airline from Dubai at 8.00 am (local time ) and arrived at the Karachi's airport around 11.00 am (karachi's time). The time difference between Dubai and Karachi is approximately one hour. The weather in karachi agak sejuk as compared to Dubai. I saw some of the people wore caps, sweater, jacket just to prevent themselves from cold weather.

Sampai saja airport, My husband's staff, Sajid dan Mehtab dah siap sedia menunggu.
Ni tengah tunggu flight kat Terminal 3, Dubai Airport

Sampai saja Karachi's airport, we went straight to the factory.  It took about 20 minutes drive from the airport to the factory which located at the Korangi Fishery Harbour (kawasan tepi laut dan perikanan). So sampai saja factory, nampak showroom yang tengah dibina. Showroom ni terletak kat entrance factory, sebab seblm ni kat belakang skit. Jadi hubby cakap, buat showroom baru, and the existing office convert to guest house for us to stay everytime we in Karachi. So, sementara tunggu showroom fully completed, we stay in the hotel.

My hubby with his accountant, farhan (maroon colour shirt-on the right). Farhan is a young and good man. My hubby told me, he is not interested to get married. Why Farhan? Why? Hihihi. So this is the new showroom

This is the washroom

View from outside the showroom. I think overall, its 90% completed.

So, that was about the showroom. So talking about Karachi, Pakistan, after 4th time in karachi, here are what i think:-

1. The city is quite dirty and dusty, with no proper waste handling system.  Everywhere you go, you will see lots of garbage scattered in the city.  I was wondering why there is no proper waste handling system. I hardly see dustbin in the public area and people can throw rubbish everywhere they like!
2. No town planning.  I can see the city is in such a mess. Buildings are being built without proper plan. You can see electric wires are everywhere, hanging from one building to another, it's such a mess!
3. Motorists are not obeying the law.  I saw motorists passed by the red signals. I mean everybody, not just one or two cars, its like the signals are there for nothing!  The road does not have proper lanes, everybody can cramp into the lane and cars were so closed that I thought they will hit with each other.  The road are in poor condition.  We are talking about the main road here! Their main road in the city is just like the roads that we have in our remote area or village back in Malaysia. Is the government are too poor to provide the amenities and facilities for the people or there are something else.
4. Police armed with guns are everywhere. In supermarkets, hotels, shopping complex, airport, you have to go through the tight security check.  When I first arrived in karachi, I was so shock that I had to go through the security check point in a hotel.  After 4th time here, I began to understand. Anyway....
5.In our country in Malaysia, no doubt that we do have poor people, but here in Karachi, the poor people are hardcore poor! You can see they live in a house (not even fit to call a house), they live in a hut! I mean how can somebody live like that.  The gap between the poor and the rich are extremely huge!

Pakistan, they have good resources. You name it, they have it.  They have nuclear power plant, which Malaysia don't have or even some of the developed countries don't even have the nuclear power, but they have.  Their fruits i would consider the best in the world. Peaches, oranges (many kind of oranges), famous manggo, pamogrenate (very red in colour, huge in size and tastes really delicious), what else? They have all kind of fruits, which we don't have.  They are the 5th largest cotton producer. They have snow! Especially at the norther area.. So, they have all the resources, but why the country is so poor? owhhh don't forget they have Taliban. Of course we don't have this one. Alhamdulillah.

So,looking at it, I was wondering what the government are doing? Can't they invest to provide better public facilities, transportation, better road, better houses for their own people? I don't know. Its not for me to think, its their government. One thing I like about Karachi, the weather is nice (especially at this time-December, January , February) and the food is spectacular and extremely delicious especially the briyani! Nyum nyum
So this is the market only if you want to eat fresh mutton.  You can choose the goat here and slaughter at your place.
This is the public bus.  So you can see how is the condition of the bus.  This is quite ok because you may came across a bus which only have its frame and the engine intact! They allow the bus to be in operation.
This is just a picture of a man selling vegetables in the city.

While heading to the factory, we came across three lorry transporting the buffalo and these buffalo are really huge!

My hubby factory in Karachi located just few meters from the sea.  Since the company involved in manufacturing of all kinds of boat, so the location is just perfect.

So video ni tunjuk suasana berhampiran dgn factory. So, pekerja dia ni bak kata Alisa, sangat multi tasking. Macam2 boleh buat. Dari kerja-kerja factory sampailar memasak. Semua boleh.  Tapi gambar nasik briyaninya tak ambil sbb dok sebab ngan benda lain.

So bila dah selesai semua, tengahari sabtu, kitaorg bertolak balik ke Dubai. Nak masuk airport kat Karachi ni, hanya org yang nk naik kapal terbang saja boleh masuk, yg tukang antar tak boleh masuk.  Pastu kalau tak bawak ticket print-out, jangan harap dapat masuk airport!. Security very tight, dalam nak naik kapalterbang tuh, adalar 4 kali checkpoint agaknya.  Yerlah, buatnya Taliban dapat menyusup masuk dalam kapalterbang lepas tu letupkan kapalterbang tu, tak naya penumpang semua.  sebab tu polis siap dgn anti-terrorist equipment (ni Alisa tahular masksudnya) ada merata-rata di airport nih.

So dah check in semua, lalular depan duty pree shop.  tak sangka hubby ni orgnya suka sopping jugak.  Dia ckp nk tengok jer handmade carpet kat kedia tuh. Alih2 beli 2 keping. Leerrrr.  Pastu dia belikanlar shawl 100% wool ni. Harga pun dlm Dirham 900 jugaklar. Mahainya. Lantaklar dia yg beli. Kalau ikutkan takmau sebab bukan tu yg I nak ok. Anyway..thank you very much my dear husband. May Allah bless you.

Ni lah rupanya shawl yg 100% wool tuh. Tapi time sejuk pakai shawl ni mmg panaslar badan kita

So, abis dah trip kat Krachi, nanti nk pi lagi. Tapi kali ni travel dgn plane memang menakutkan. Sebabnya turbulances punyalar byk. Mak aiii kapal goyang sana goyang sini, kejap atas kejap bawah cam naik roller coaster. Tak sukanya. Mmg tak suka. Yg hubby dok gelak2 tengok muka kita yg pucat itew.  Budak2 kecik yg duduk kat belakan siap gelak2 bila plane kejap naik atas kejap turun bawah. Diaorg ingat naik plane mainan agaknya. Adoiiiii memang menakutkan lar, apa taknya berada di atas paras 28,000 kaki.

Ni dalam plane, masih di karachi

Alhamdulillah dah sampai Terminal 3, Dubai Airport setelah 2 jam.

Ni penampilan baru pakai shawl.  Tak pernah pakai, ntah apa2.

Ok, bye2 buat masa ni.

Places to visit in Dubai, UAE

So ni terminal 3, ada Emirates Airline saja.

Maksudnya plan dulu mana nak pergi supaya masa tak terbuang.

Di Dubai ni so many places to cover so my advice is to take the tour bus called "Big Bus Tour". Tour dia senang jer, you can hip-on and hip off the bus untuk sightseing. Dia cover semua tempat-tempat yg perlu dilawati.  kalau nak pergi sendiri semua tempat tu, mampuihlar...dahler panaih, pastu kos byk lagi. So big bus tour ni ada day tour and night tour. Boleh beli tiket ikut berapa lma kita nak tour. Ada 24 hour ticket tour and 48 hour tour. So amik tour package yg malam sekali sebab its worth buying tengok scenery waktu mlm yg sangat cantik especially Burj Al-Arab, Burj Al-Khalifa, The Atlantis dan byk2 lagi bangunan pencakar langit kat sana.

Tambangnya nak kata mahal tu tak jugak sebab big bus tour covers lots of interesting places in Dubai. For Adults with 48 hour tour cost about USD68 (Approx. RM225). The route for Big Bus tour as follows:-

1. The Burj Al-Arab
2. Jumeirah Mosque
3. Al-Fahidi Port & Dubai Museum
4. The Gold Souk
5. The Burj Khaliffa
6. The Spice Souk
7.Jumeirah Park and Public Beach
8.The Atlantis on the Palm
9.Sheik Saeed Al-Maktoum's house
10.Dubai Creek
11.Emirates Tower

Just hop in and hop off.  Very  convenient.  Dalam big bus ni juga ada small fridge with lots of mineral water bottles. Just grab how many you want, its included in the pakage.

Ok kalau stop di Burj Khalifa, boleh singgah sekali Dubai Mall which is just opposite the Burj Khaliffa. Dubai Mall ni sangat besar, satu hari pun x abis jalan, sakit kaki semua. Owhhhh sgtlar besar. Dalam Dubai Mall juga da aquarium which accomodates thousand species of fish. The fee per entry is around AED100 if im not mistaken.

Kalau stop di Burj Khalifa, jangan lupa pergi at the top of burj khaliffa untuk menikmati pemandangan pada ketinggian 120 tingkat (kalau tak silap).

Cross Cultural Marriage

Apa itu cross-cultural? Cross-cultural is comparing or dealing with two or more different cultures (Freedictionary.com, accessed on 13/1/2014) What is marriage? According to Islam, marriage is a contract (Aqad) between a man (groom) and a wali of a woman (the bride) who gives her to the husband to be his wife (Wikipedia, 12/1/2014). Therefore, cross cultural marriage is aqad between man and woman of two different cultures.  The Prophet SAW has also said, "Marriage is my tradition, whosoever keeps away from it, its not from amongst us".

Ok, in order for the marriage to be valid, the following conditions must be met :-

1. Consent of both parties
2. "Mahr"-a gift from the groom to the bride
3.Witnesses
4.Must be publicized (Never kept as secret)
(Dr. Sherif Mohammed)

So lil bit about the definition of the cross-cultural and marriage? Now, what are the things that you should know before marrying someone from different country and cultures? It is of paramount important from the bride and groom to be to study and observe each other cultures as they are not the same and don't under estimate each other's culture. Based on my experience in cross-cultural marriage, here are the things that man and woman should know before the marriage takes place:-

1. Communication.
Communication is very very important in cross-cultural marriage.  Since it is a cross-cultural marriage, English will be a medium of communication between both parties. Well, when we say English, its not about understanding the language, but more on how the language sound to your ears.  Due to different accent, what ever both parties said might not be understood by another parties.  So how do people speak? Well, different culture may have different way of speaking. Therefore, always clarify back by asking question, what you actually mean when you say this or that? Clarification is very important.  Otherwise, both might misunderstood each other and end-up with argument.

And also bear in mind, the tone of the language is also very important.  For people in Pakistan,Bangladesh, India and Middle East, they used to talk very loud (like shouting) with each other.  Sometimes we feel that as if they were fighting over something, but in actual fact they are chatting. Now, those who are familiar with Hindi or Tamil film, then you know what I am talking about! We the Asians, are not familiar with such high tone of communication and of your partner are talking to you in such a tone, don't feel offended as that is their way of talking....I once hear my husband was talking to his customer in a very high tone and so was the customer and I said to myself, owhhhh they are fighting with each other. Then I ask my husband, what was that all about? any misunderstanding between you and the customer? Then he said, No, we are chatting.  Owhhhhhh!..Ok!

2. Food

Food plays important role in the marriage. Have you heard about the phrase, "the way to man's heart is through his stomach". Yeah you heard me. Feed him with good food and he will love you more. But bear this in mind, this is cross-cultural marriage! You need to learn what is your husband's favorite food! If you choose to live in your spouse's country, then forget about the food of your own country, especially if you following your husband. Only cook food that he like or used to eat. Don't try to be creative by cooking something that he don't like as it will end up horribly. Don't bring your favorite food from your home country because he is not prepared to taste your food. You may hear him say, what food is this? This meat might be from a sick cow or what not!, Its hard to believe? well, believe me! Just cook food that he used to eat and you will be fine and things will be smooth. However, you might want to think, why you hear such a harsh comment? Think positive, he cares about you and he don't want you to fall sick by eating the food that you not sure how it was prepare and how clean are the food. This mean he loves you!

3. Don't argue.

If your spouse, especially your husband come from a country that I have mentioned in No, 1, please, please never never argue with him eventhough he was wrong or he didn't realized that he was wrong.  Hmmm sounds very harsh isn't it? Well, if you want a smooth marriage, you better follow my advice. Only say things that you want to say and that's it and you will lead a peaceful life. Well, you have to bear in mind, different country practices different cultures. We might have the same religion, but our cultures are different. Back in those country listed in No. 1, the women are quite reserved and are trained to obey the husband.  Nonetheless, I could not understand, why the divorce rate are also high in those countries.  Anyway, only talk when necessary and only provide opinion when ask.  I am sure things will be fine. Think positive again! Argue is not good for marriage. I would like to quote a story by Molana Tareq Jameel.  Iblis (the head of the syaitan) was in the gathering and he ask one of the shaitan, ok, what have you done today? and the first shaitan said, I have make some one miss his prayer. Iblis replied, that is nothing! You have done nothing!. Then Iblis asked syaitan no. 2, ok, what have you done today? I have make someone consume alcohol. Iblis replied, that is nothing! You have done nothing!, Then Iblis ask syaitan no. 3, what have you done? I have make husband and wife argue. Iblis then replied. Good! That was good!. Come and sit besides me.

So, this story says, how syaitan likes to make husband and wife argue, because by argument, it will affect the wife, the husband, the children, the grandchildren and even the future.

4. Dress Code

Dress code is also important for cross-cultural marriage. If you follow your spouse who resides in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, Middle East, it is advisable to follow the country's dress code.  For example, in UAE, the man can wear "Khandura" or "Jubah" in Malay, or man can wear casual dress like shirt and pants.  But for women, it is best if you can follow the country's dress code. For example, if you live in UAE or Saudi, or pakistan, Bangladesh, India, wearing you might want to wear "Abaya" in UAE, or "Salwar Khamis" in Pakistan orBangladesh or "Punjabi Suit" or "Sari" in India. Well,I don't say that you cannot wear your home country's dress, but if you want to please your spouse, then you can follow your spouse's country dress code.

Ok...that's about it for time being....will continue with more points.

P/S : This is just my opinion and no intention whatsoever to offend or hurt anybody.

Nak Masak Apa?

Selalu kepala pening sebab tak tau nk masak apa...tapi Alhamdulillah my husband is a very simple man, with a simple life (kata dia lah, tapi naik kreta Lexus 4x4 harga RM500,000 ngan beli jam rolex harga RM120,000 tu simple ker?) Allah Karim..

Ok, cuma nak citer, my husband's customer gave him lots of fish...big fish..here they call it kingfish, tapi kita panggeiikan tenggiri kot...My dearest husband ni mkn tak cerewet, dan tak suka minyak2 dan jugak lemak, jadi tugas saya sangatlar senang, (tapi cerewet benda lain tak tau nk cerita, boleh histeria)..

So dia bawak balik ikan tenggiri ni, jadi siang2, pastu goreng dan masak kunyi jer...tadaaaaa.....isn't that easy?

Siap dah siangg

Tadaaa...siap dah masak..sat ja...

Molana Tareq Jameel

Posting kali ni berbentuk Islamic. Sekrg asyik mendengar ceramah (kat youtube) dari Molana (Kita sebut Maulana). Ceramahnya sangat best.

How to become the best person"?,

One companion asked The Prophet SAW, "O messenger of Allah, I wish to be the best among the people," So what did The Prophet SAW reply? Pray tahajjud?fasting? charity? hajj/umrah? But The Prophet said, Serve the people and you will be the best among the people. Have a good character. Khidmat pada masyarakat.  Allah hu akbar...dengan berbuat baik pada orang, bayangkan kita jadi best among the best...

lagi satu tentang Iman, One companion asked Prophet SAW. "O messenger of Allah, I wish to remain steadfast in my faith (iman) and I hope to complete it",  The Prophet SAW said, "Correct your morale (akhlak)/characters, and your faith will be completed". Allah hu akhbar...how good morale can help us to remain steadfast in our iman... Rasulullah SAW said, "A person with good morale (Akhlak) will exceed someone who has prayed tahajjud and fasted his whole life" Bayangkan, hanya menjaga akhlak betapa darjat kita menjadi tinggi...

So what is good morale(akhlak)? Keep your tounge under control....

So, as a conclusion, untuk menjadi manusia yg tinggi darjatnya mestilah
1. jaga solat
2. Jaga lidah

Insya Allah the rest will follow. Insya Allah..sama-sama kita ingatkan diri sendiri..

Dah dapat Emirates ID Card

Salam Semua...

Sini saja nk cerita yg saya dah dapat Emirates ID Card. Ok, in UAE if you want to stay here legally, you must apply for residence Visa.  This residence visa will largely depend on who is your sponsor.  For instance, in my case, my husband is my sponsor. If you working in UAE, you need to have employment visa and your employer is your sponsor.  So this residence visa is valid for three years. So, you need to renew it every three years.  Mcm tu lar. Kat UAE ni, foreigner constitute approximately 80% of its population. Lawak kan, negara yg ramai foreigner dari rakyat sendiri.  So just imagine, the Emiratis (the local people) mesti dapat byk benefits dari kerajaan dia...sbb jumlah dia skit saja.

One good thing for foreigner having a business here is that the business will be exempted from tax.  Meaning you don't have to pay tax for the profits that your earned in your business.  Free of tax.  So my hubby has been in business since 1985 and its tax free since then.  Same goes for your salary if you working here, its tax free.  But........everything here are so expensive. Water, electricity, consumer items, not to mention properties...all are expensive.  This explain why those who are working here, the salary is quite high.  Just imagine, if you work in a Bank, holding maybe senior manager post, you will be getting AED 30,000-40,000 salary (that is approximately RM27,000-37,000). fuhhh sapa nak bagi. Kalau lecturer, holding PhD, salary might be around AED30,000.  So tunggu I abis Phd okey, lepaih tu blh kreja. Yahoooo. Tapi nk abis pun bukan senang....jenuh...cakap jer byk..defend pun belum lagi..Haishhhhh...tapi takper, positve ok..

So, mcm tu lar alkisahnya...

Ni contoh Emirates ID..Huduh btul muka..

Selamat Tahun Baru

Walaupun ni bukan umat Islam punya tahun baru, kita syok2 saja tgk bunga api ok.  So kat Dubai ni ada byk tempat pertunjukkan bunga apinya. Antaranya:-

1. Burj Al-Arab (yg hotel famous dan mahal itew)
2. Burj Al-khalifa (yg world tallest skyscraper itew)
3.The Atlantis di palm Jumeira (yg nampak kot ataih mcm design pokok kurma tuh)

Kat Palm Jumeira yg paling besaq pertunjukkannya...So me and my hubby on the new year's eve tu pun pi lar round and round untuk carik the perfect spot.  of course we can't actually go near to the place as the police only allows us to be certain kilometer radius from the fireworks show due to security reason.

So carik2 tempat last2 parking tepi jalan mengadap lorong nk masuk The Atlantis sebab takmau masuk dalam sebab kreta teramatlar jem. So while waiting for the fireworks, we chat, we eat nuts. My hubby is a big fan of all kind of nuts, so he bought pistachio, walnut, almond, cashew. We also bought KFC. Tu dia punya mentekedarah just nk tgk bunga api...anyway, so tepat detik 12 malam,  mula2 fireworks show at Burj Al-Khalifa, then Burj Al-Arab and the most awaited fireworks show adalah di The Atlantis...punya lar cantik, so this was the biggest fireworks show in the whole wide world. Alhamdulillah Ya Allah kerana berkesempatan melihat bunga api yang cantik...Kalau umur panjang, insya Allah tahun depan berpeluang lagi.

So dalam video ni boleh tengok fireworks show, tapi agak jauh sbb susah nk pergi dekat2, terlalu ramai org. Sorry video tunggang terbalik sebab tak tau nak re-position dia.

Pastu tgh dok record, ada pulak org interframe (sapa lagi kalau bukan my hubby) yg kononnya nak record dgn lebih dekat. Haishhhh...takpalar...

So mlm tu tau pukoi berapa sampai rumah? Pukoi 4.00 pagi. Tudia.....sebabnya? Jalan punyalar jem....nasib baik bukan saya yang drive..hihihihi
